Dear Parents and Students,
I am thrilled to welcome you back to school for the 2013-2014 year at Montclair! The faculty and staff are busy preparing the school and classrooms for an exciting year of learning and growth. We are looking forward to hearing about your summer adventures, getting caught up with returning families, and meeting our newest Cougars.
Student success is the goal of every staff member at Montclair. We believe with our new structure and dedication to high quality, research-based best practices, every student will learn to full potential. We are prepared to offer time and support as needed. I ask for your support and participation in this effort by sending your child to school every day, encouraging him/her to read for pleasure at least 30 minutes every night, monitoring homework and progress, and asking your child to share what they learned at school each day.
We would like to provide some important dates for beginning of the year events.

Finally, we urge you to become involved at Montclair! All parents are considered members of PEAK (Parents, Educators and Kids) – our form of PTO. There are literally hundreds of ways to be involved in PEAK activities in both big and small ways depending on the amount of time you have. You may want to consider working with the School Advisory Committee. There are also many opportunities to help in the classroom, with field trips, and attend some or all of the many school events. We send home important information about events each week in student Thursday Folders. From time to time we must send home important information with students outside the Thursday Folder, so it is a good idea to check backpacks daily. Other places for news and information include the school website, marquee, and the bulletin boards and flyer rack near the office. From time to time we may also make automated or personal phone calls to all parents so it is important we have current phone numbers.
The staff and administration are eager to welcoming you to another wonderful year!
On behalf of the Montclair Team,
