Javiera Paz Ihrig Reyes earned a B.A. from George Washington University and an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Denver. A lifelong learner, she is a fellowship recipient in DU’s Educational Leadership and Policy Studies doctoral program, where she is currently in her fourth year. As a LatCrit and DisCrit scholar, her research focuses on decolonizing methodologies, neurodiversity in education, and immigration policy.
Over the past fourteen years, Javiera has served Denver Public Schools as a teacher, teacher leader, instructional coach, and administrator. Originally from Viña del Mar, Chile, she immigrated to the United States at the age of seven. She is Mestiza, with Spanish and Mapuche Indigenous heritage, and is fluent in both Spanish and English.
Javiera is also an avid fan of Star Trek and imagines a future grounded in exploration, curiosity, and liberation rather than colonization.
