Ms Harroun-Smith is excited to be starting a new year at Montclair! She’s started the Performing Arts program in 2018 and it continues to grow strong. In her class, we explore music, dance, and theatre. Her personal background is in theatre where she has been performing since age 9 and teaching since she was 16. One of her favorite things about Performing Arts is getting to see students be creative and explore different ways to tell their own stories. She also loves to try out dance and music styles with students like tinikling, salsa, or boomwhackers and djemebe. Ms Harroun-Smith is excited to announce that she was selected as the Colorado Thespian Elementary Educator of the Year for 2026-a statewide honor where she is recognized throughout Colorado as an example and mentor for other teachers in the Performing Arts.
La Sra. Harroun-Smith está muy emocionada de comenzar un nuevo año en Montclair. En 2018, creó el programa de Artes Escénicas, el cual continúa creciendo y fortaleciéndose. En sus clases, los estudiantes exploran la música, la danza y el teatro.
Su trayectoria personal se centra en el teatro: ha participado en producciones desde los 9 años y comenzó a enseñar a los 16. Una de las cosas que más disfruta de las Artes Escénicas es ver a los estudiantes expresar su creatividad y explorar diferentes maneras de contar sus propias historias.
También le encanta experimentar con distintos estilos de danza y música junto a sus estudiantes, como el tinikling y la salsa, así como utilizar instrumentos como los Boomwhackers y el djembe.
La Sra. Harroun-Smith se complace en compartir que fue seleccionada como Educadora de Teatro de Primaria del Año 2026 por Colorado Thespians, un reconocimiento a nivel estatal que la distingue en todo Colorado como ejemplo y mentora para otros docentes de Artes Escénicas.
