Ms. Burke has taught at Montclair since 2012 and is thrilled this year to retun to a First Grade classroom. She previously was the English Language Development team lead teacher at Montclair for the last 10 years. Before that, she taught First and Second grade in a bilingual classroom since 2004. She earned a B.A. degree in Spanish and International Studies from Macalester College and an M.A. in Urban Education from the University of Denver. Ms. Burke is also certified in the Orton-Gillingham method, used to help struggling readers. She has lived, studied or traveled to 20 countries worldwide and enjoys learning about other cultures. Ms. Burke believes in building strong relationships with her students and provides a warm, loving but structured learning environment for them. Their happiness and academic growth are her primary focus in the classroom. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her son, traveling, volunteer work, spending time in nature and is a huge fan of gardening!
La Sra. Burke ha impartido clases en Montclair desde 2012 y está encantada de regresar este año a un aula de primer grado. Anteriormente, se desempeñó como maestra líder del equipo de Desarrollo del Idioma Inglés en Montclair durante los últimos 10 años. Antes de eso, enseñó en aulas bilingües de primer y segundo grado desde 2004. Obtuvo su licenciatura en Español y Estudios Internacionales en Macalester College y una maestría en Educación Urbana en la Universidad de Denver. La Sra. Burke también cuenta con certificación en el método Orton-Gillingham, utilizado para ayudar a los lectores que presentan dificultades. Ha vivido, estudiado o viajado a 20 países de todo el mundo y disfruta aprendiendo sobre otras culturas. La Sra. Burke cree en la importancia de construir relaciones sólidas con sus alumnos y les ofrece un ambiente de aprendizaje cálido y afectuoso, pero a la vez estructurado. Su prioridad en el aula es la felicidad y el crecimiento académico de sus estudiantes. En su tiempo libre, disfruta estar con su hijo, viajar, realizar voluntariado, pasar tiempo en la naturaleza y ¡es una gran aficionada a la jardinería!
