{"id":3401,"date":"2022-10-31T16:33:53","date_gmt":"2022-10-31T16:33:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/montclair.dpsk12.org\/?p=3401"},"modified":"2022-10-31T19:24:53","modified_gmt":"2022-10-31T19:24:53","slug":"message-from-the-principal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/montclair.dpsk12.org\/es\/2022\/10\/31\/message-from-the-principal\/","title":{"rendered":"Message from the Principal"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>October 28, 2022<\/strong><br><strong>Hello Montclair Community,<\/strong><br>This has been a week of change for all of us here at Montclair, and like you, we are still absorbing the proposed changes for the&nbsp; 2023-2024 School Year. DPS is proposing to consolidate Montclair and Palmer into Montclair for K-5 and Palmer for ECE. This would result in Montclair becoming a Kindergarten-5th elementary and Palmer becoming an ECE center program. The DPS School board will hear public comment on November 14th, then vote on November 17th.&nbsp; We will send these dates and locations out to you as they approach.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>Our hearts and minds are with both the Montclair and Palmer Communities as we re-imagine our ECE and Elementary Schools for our communities.&nbsp; With Palmer \u201cPRIDE\u201d and Montclair \u201cCARES\u201d it is evident that both schools will do whatever it takes to support our kids.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>During times of change, I always go back to the work of William Bridges who wrote a book simply titled \u201cTransitions.\u201d&nbsp; The book was a favorite of my late father and is once again back on my desk.&nbsp; He describes transition as \u201cLinus without his blanket,\u201d feeling lost and uncertain.&nbsp; We encourage you to acknowledge these feelings in yourself, your community and your children.&nbsp; Just as we did during COVID, our collective value of \u201cUbuntu\u201d will continue to carry us through to support one another through what is now and what is to come.&nbsp;<br>Montclair will hold a community meeting at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, November 1st in our auditorium.&nbsp; It is important even if you feel unaffected by the changes to come and make your voice heard!&nbsp; There will be School Board Members present.&nbsp; This is a non-school day for Montclair and also Dia de los Muertos.&nbsp; For families that cannot make it, I will host a Coffee with the Principal on Friday, November 4th at 10:00 am in the Library.&nbsp; We hope to see you there!&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>Be well,<br><br>Susan<br>P.S.&nbsp; Our regular weekly update will be delivered later today &#8211; hope to see you at 2:15 on Monday for our Mask Parade!<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>October 28, 2022Hello Montclair Community,This has been a week of change for all of us here at Montclair, and like you, we are still absorbing the proposed changes for the&nbsp; 2023-2024 School Year.
