Dear Montclair Community,

I am writing to let you know that I will be leaving Montclair at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.  I know to many of you, this decision will come as a surprise, given that I went through a formal selection process just last year.  This has been a heart-wrenching decision.  The needs of my family have changed over the past year, and I am making changes to put my family first.

Leading Montclair has been the greatest privilege of my career. In my time here, I have focused on building a strong, cohesive school community in which all students are seen, honored and challenged.  I have served with talented and caring people who go over and above for children each and every day.  Who knew that most of our time together would be during a pandemic!  During these last five years you all have become my second family, and I will miss you dearly.

I am 100% dedicated to Montclair through the end of the school year, and will fully support a transition to new leadership to uphold our values and take our school to the next level in equity and achievement. The Montclair School Advisory Committee (SAC) will be working in collaboration with our Collaborative Director, Dana Williams, in partnership with Scott Wolf, Operational Services Director, to identify the next Montclair principal.  The broader school community will be provided with ongoing updates and opportunities for engagement in the process.

Thank you for the ongoing gift of your children and the privilege to serve this incredible community.

Be well,

Susan Miller-Curley

Principal, Montclair
