Starting a New School Year!

Hello Montclair Families,
We are looking forward to meeting you and your student(s) for their first day of school! As a reminder, K-5 will start Monday 8/21 and ECE will start Tuesday 8/22.
Arrival
To prioritize the safety of your student(s) we are adjusting our arrival procedures to minimize the number of access points to the building.
Kindergarten through Fifth Grades
- Doors open at 7:50am (there will be no coverage provided prior to this time)
- ALL Kindergarten – 5th grade students will enter through the main entrance off of Newport Street
- Students will sit by class in the auditorium until 8:00 am when teachers will transition them to class
- Students after 8:00am will be considered late and need to be let in at the main entrance by the front office
ECE
- ECE students will enter through the playground to the back doors of our ECE classrooms
- Doors open at 8am (there will be no coverage provided prior to this time)
- Families must sign in their child each morning
Dismissal
ECE-5th Grades
- Dismissal will be at 3:05pm (except 1st Thursday of each month at 1:10pm)
- ECE – dismiss from the classroom (students must be signed out by family)
- K – Outside the auditorium (Newport)
- 1 – South door (Newport)
- 2 – South door (Newport)
- 3rd -South door (Newport)
- 4th – North door (Richthofen)
- 5th – North door (Richthofen)
- Please be on time for dismissal as we do not provide coverage after 3:05 pm
Secure Spaces
- To prioritize the safety of our students during school operating hours all classrooms will be considered secure spaces. This means that no adults other than Montclair staff will be allowed past the main office. All visitors must check-in to the main office at all times.
- If you are interested in volunteering at Montclair and/or going on field trips you must go through a background check process with DPS Volunteer Services: click here for more information
Other Important Information
- What to bring to school: Backpack, water bottle and lunchbox (if needed)
- ECE Families: ECE families meeting is Monday 8/21 at 3:00pm (in ECE classrooms)
- Guests will need to check-in to the main office first
- Please take a look at our school calendar for the upcoming school year.
- The 1st Thursday of each month is early dismissal at 1:10pm (ECE – 5th).
- YMCA is available for families who need additional after-school support. YMCA Registration: YMCA Registration Link
- Our school day will be from 8:00 am – 3:05 pm Monday to Friday.
- Students should arrive no earlier than 7:50 am each day. All students will have the opportunity to eat breakfast as part of DPS’s Breakfast in the Classroom program.
- School Fees are $40 per child and will cover all school supplies and field trips for the year. To pay your school fee visit: Parent Portal (Click here for instructions)

- DPS has made changes to Montclair bus routes: Check your Parent Portal for more information or call DPS transportation at (720) 423-4600.
