Montclair Week 6 Updates

Hello Montclair Families,

Happy October!  I can’t believe how fast this year is going already.  

Tomorrow, 10/2/23, is our Wild GREEN Day to celebrate Montclair being a GREEN School.  Montclair is 1 of 11 schools in DPS that saw their school rating increase for this school year!  Students should come to school wearing GREEN.  The class with the most GREEN will win a popcorn/recess party!

Updates:

  • School Attendance: It is crucial that you communicate when your student will be absent. The procedure is to call the main line at 720-424-5380 then press #1 for attendance. When you get transferred you will have to leave a clear recording of your full name, student full name & a reason as to why the student will miss school. 
  • Please fill out the You Benefit! form (formerly referred to as the Meals Application). We ask all Montclair families to please complete the You Benefit form!  This form provides extra funding from the government for Montclair.  In addition, families who fill out the You Benefit! form may qualify to receive discounted school fees, class materials, bus passes, utilities support and more!
  • Saturday School (3rd-5th Grades):  Saturday School will be offered and no cost. We will start this Saturday 10/7/23 and the hours will be from 9:00am- 12:00pm.  If you would like your 3rd-5th grade student(s) to attend please register using the following link. 
  • BESS Screener: Denver Public Schools uses the BASC-3 Behavioral and Emotional Screening System (BASC-3 BESS or “BESS”) to complete universal mental health screening of all students. The purpose of screening all students is to implement a proactive approach to meeting student needs. Data from the screening results are used to provide students with access to appropriate social emotional or mental health interventions. The results help guide decisions for type, duration, and level of these interventions and supports.   • Clyfford Still Museum:  Montclair students are featured in the newest exhibition at the Clyfford Still Museum, including audio works and quotes on the walls. Way to go Montclair! For more information about the Clyfford Still Museum:  https://clyffordstillmuseum.org/
  • School Fees are $40 per child and will cover all school supplies and field trips for the year (Due 9/30/23).  To pay your school fee visit:  Parent Portal  (Click here for instructions)
  • Other Important Dates:
    • October 2nd-11th – Fall Conferences (teachers will be reaching out to schedule)
    • October 5th- Enrichment and Early Release Day at 1:10pm
    • October 12th-16th- Fall Break
    • October 31st- Mask Parade (2:15-2:55 pm) 
    • November 1st- No School
