Hello Montclair Families,

Happy October!  We are loving the cooler weather as it feels much nicer in the building.

Updates:

  • School Attendance is Vital to your Student(s) Success!  Check out the following video about why attendance matters. English Spanish
    • Did you know? 5 out of 10 Montclair Students are considered chronically absent.  A student is considered “chronically absent” when they miss 10% or more of the school year.  Missing only 2 days of school each month will mean your student(s) are considered chronically absent.
    • Montclair’s School Attendance Goal for the 23-24 School Year: 91.4% average daily attendance (3% increase from 22-23 School Year)
    • Montclair’s Current School Attendance Rate: 90.56% average daily attendance
    • October Classroom Attendance Reward:  The classroom with the highest attendance rate this month will earn a class party of their choice!
  • Please fill out the You Benefit! form (formerly referred to as the Meals Application). We ask all Montclair families to please complete the You Benefit form!  This form provides extra funding from the government for Montclair.  In addition, families who fill out the You Benefit! form may qualify to receive discounted school fees, class materials, bus passes, utilities support and more!  Currently, we have about 60 families who’s applications were declined (needing more information).  Please check your email to complete any last details that may be needed.

  • BESS Screener: Denver Public Schools uses the BASC-3 Behavioral and Emotional Screening System (BASC-3 BESS or “BESS”) to complete universal mental health screening of all students. The purpose of screening all students is to implement a proactive approach to meeting student needs. Data from the screening results are used to provide students with access to appropriate social emotional or mental health interventions. The results help guide decisions for type, duration, and level of these interventions and supports.
